Federal Transportation Grant to Bring Communities Together

The $600 million for project development is designed to give local communities access to better infrastructure.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg opened applications for the Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program, making more than $600 million available for the grant program’s 2024 fiscal year. This grant program seeks to restore the connectivity of marginalized and low-income neighborhoods. In the past infrastructure decisions divided communities, with strategically placed highways, sporadic amenities, and reduced public transportation. This grant program seeks to facilitate street redesign, local walkway development, and ways to more easily move across highways.

“Through President Biden’s infrastructure law, we’re addressing infrastructure choices of the past and making sure that our transportation investments serve to connect, rather than divide, people and communities across the country,” said Secretary Buttigieg. “This funding will support projects that bring people closer to jobs, schools, housing, places of worship, and one another.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg as he leads the Department of Transportation.
  • That transportation officials are led by the Lord as they choose projects for this grant funding.
  • For the president and members of his administration as they seek to repair infrastructure and reconnect communities.
